My send off with Didi and Tim! My Plymouth folks. Hosting me last night. I love them ...

Ready to get on the Road!
The difference of less than five miles. Interesting social observation of the day. Route 1, West Port, CT (top Route 1 of a more affluent town is almost cozy, compared to Route 1, Norwalk, CT (bottom) the more stark industrial fee of the same road in a working class town.
Middleborough, MA Day 1
Walking walking walking. Not the pretty route. But a real look at a suburban commercial landscape.
A Couch Surfing host, Karin. Thanks goodness for generous people.
And a great stay with my friend, Emily! The send off this morning.
Good morning to day 4: so I made it to Riverbend Campground in Sterling, CT. After making my video I missed my turn and walked at 3-4 miles the wrong way. After backtracking, I lost all my steam. I was still 6 miles away when I literally couldn't walk another step. I had lost one of my water bottles and had to ask for water from a couple outside their house. They offered me a ride, which I gladly accepted. Outside of the cities, people have much different ideologies. The couple had a much different viewpoint, so I gathered by their silence when I told them about my Pilgrimage. But they still offered a ride and water. Living in Watertown, MA, is much different than living on the outskirts of Rhode Island and Connecticut. I've seen more "don't tread on me" and confederate flags then I comfortable with acknowledging. A pilgrimage is about going outside my comfort zone - here I am. I won't make me next stop today, Pequot Lodge Campground. It's much too far, and I'm much too spent. But I should make it to Plainville or to Norwich, CT. I'm not the endurance athlete I always think I am.
And yes, my legs are that red (sun allergy) and swollen. Aloe Vera gel and Advil are my best friends today.
From Norwich to East Haddam. Special treat - my friend Debbie showed up to meet me halfway through my day. And....she brought snacks for the finish, including a brownie bar.
Mark, the owner of this sweet cafe, has a terrific heart. All good vibes and very generous. Not only does he promote a superb message of equality and love but makes an INCREDIBLE tuna sandwich! And....the ice cream...creamy, sweet and homemade. #pilgrimage #pilgrimage #genuine #immigrantswelcome #refugeeswelcome #equality #weareone #goodvibes #pealways Wrasslin' Cats, can't wait to visit again! #easthaddam
I would've driven right by this stream and missed this. The beauty of the Pilgrimage, reconnecting with people and the landscape.
