my art is my home
A home with rooms, niches, nooks, space to grow, with a garden that leads to a field, surrendering to a forest that eventually bows into the waves of the ocean.
Poetic words that ring of truth. Almost. Art is also spontaneous, messy, unpredictable, never what I had first imagined, yet it expels my roaring thoughts, heartbreaks, hopes, and under-my-breath unconscious passions.
I'm a person with many loves and my art displays my adoration of images, words, music, experimental, blending the mediums until the concept comes to a heightened place. My art is not about perfection. I am not a machine or algorithm. I am human - wonderfully limited and finite and contradictory. And so is my art at times. But I do value truths, as in viewing, reading, hearing something that rings true to life, humanity,
There a some reoccurring themes in my work: feminism, nature, and immigration and emigration. We are all interconnected. We are a part of life. We are all tourists, moving through our days usually haphazardly.
I am for humanity. I am for learning how be and work with Nature, so as whole we thrive. I am for hand-made sustainable products. I am for community. I am political, because neutrality never gave me what I hoped it would when I was young - peace.
This is a lot to take in for an introduction to myself and my artwork and process. But there you have what rings of a truth today. Tomorrow is always another story!
