Eve2Eden2Evolution

All Woman

We talk about Nature versus Human Nature as we have cut ourselves off from the natural world because we use verbal and written language.

When really we have merely forgotten our beginnings.

Using Eve and Eden as familiar constructs of creation and created, this series of artworks explores the nature within us, the nature that never left us.

The blended-mediums high contrast pieces depict the range of our inner selves. Portraits that challenge us to look within yet stay curious to the outside. The woodland landscapes display the tension of light and shadows, reflections of our past and present.

If you're wondering about the term blended-mediums, this is my exploration of blending fine art photography prints and acrylic painting. Blurring. blending the margins to create a new images, showcasing the bursting nature within us.

The three faces of Eve depicted in the acrylic paintings are the hallmark of the collection depicting a raw and vivacious beginnings of humankind still deeply rooted in the rhythms of the natural world.

The 3 fragmented womanhood pieces is part of a self-portrait of my own journey through womanhood, and I found great satisfaction "tearing apart" my own work and old clothes to then piece together a new self-perspective. Asking myself what is my true nature at this moment in time?

Finally, the archetypal blended-medium "tapestry" of the Amazonas I created as a re-imagination of where an evolutionary Eve could inspire. The women depicted are of the water, earth, and sky - elemental Nature. This piece works with new and found materials to compliment the idea of something old and new, which is a truth  of our evolution.
